Quatre étapes pour le remisage de votre véhicule

À l’approche de l’hiver, les propriétaires de voitures de collection et de motos préparent le remisage de leurs précieux bolides afin de les protéger de l’hiver rude québécois. 

Leurs véhicules n’auront pas à subir l’assaut constant du gel, de la neige, de la pluie, de la grêle et des abrasifs sur leur carrosserie pendant six mois.

Première étape, la préparation du véhicule

En prévision du remisage, soyez aux petits soins avec votre véhicule. Un petit voyage chez votre mécanicien préféré s’impose, à moins que vous ne soyez doué pour effectuer la vidange d’huile, installer un nouveau filtre à huile et vérifier la densité de l’antigel du moteur vous-même. 

Ensuite, passez par le lave-auto ou encore mieux, nettoyez vous-même la carrosserie et la sous-carrosserie en ciblant les endroits où la corrosion peut se développer. 

Deuxième étape, le remisage

Les collectionneurs entreposeront sûrement leurs voitures de luxe dans un endroit chauffé et sécurisé par un système d’alarme, mais ce n’est pas à la portée de tous. Trouvez un endroit à l’abri des passants, et sachant que métal et humidité ne font pas bon ménage, préférez un endroit sec. Vous pouvez couper une partie de l’humidité du béton en posant une toile au sol.

Couvrez ensuite votre véhicule d’une housse et n’oubliez pas de remplir le réservoir d’essence afin que la jauge dépasse la marque des trois quarts. Laissez la plaque d’immatriculation sur le véhicule. Songez enfin à retirer la batterie afin de la conserver dans un endroit sec et chauffé.

Troisième étape, la SAAQ

La Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) vous offrira un crédit sur l’immatriculation de votre véhicule pour les mois de remisage. Vous pouvez tout faire sur le site de la SAAQ, par téléphone ou dans l’un des centres d’immatriculation de CAA-Québec. 

La SAAQ n’offre pas de remboursement pour le remisage d'une motocyclette après le 30 septembre ou celle d’une motoneige après le 31 mars. Notez aussi que le certificat d’immatriculation du véhicule doit être en vigueur, sinon des frais supplémentaires et une partie du coût de l’immatriculation seront exigibles avant que la SAAQ ne procède au remisage.

Quatrième étape, les assurances
